It provides educators with a convenient source of accurate and useful information on global, national, and regional marine science topics, and gives researchers a contact point for educational outreach."

The United States Coast and Geodetic Survey (USGS) has 50 topics of study, each with a rich collection of background and research information. A great resource for those interested in the ever changing marine environment.
- Interdisciplinary Research Programs of the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution address topics of current societal importance such as terrestrial and
marine biological diversity, global climate change, genetic research, and ecosystem modeling.
- National Climatic Data Center (NCDC)
NCDC has extensive files of both national and global climate information.
- National Marine Fisheries administers NOAA's (National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration) programs which support the domestic and international conservation and management of living marine resources.
